As home care service providers, we are often just one of the many agencies and professionals who help our clients enjoy living independently in their own homes. One of the key roles of our staff is acting as the central pivot between our clients and their relatives and other healthcare professionals to make sure they receive the best care at all times.
Our staff really are the strongest link when it comes to looking out for the interests of our elderly and dementia clients in the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks areas. Our home care team are, in many ways, the eyes and ears of all the agencies involved in looking out for the wellbeing of our clients. They are often the voice of our clients as well.
As the most regular visitors of our clients, our home carers are the first to notice a change in their physical or mental health. They record their observations in the client’s care folder, so their fellow carers can keep an eye out to see if there is a real change or if it was just a bit of a blip. But if any of them have any serious concerns, they contact the office straightaway and our experienced Director of Care, Julia, decides the appropriate course of action, from calling the district nurse or GP to ringing for an ambulance.
Julia also is kept busy chasing chemists for prescriptions and booking doctors’ appointments. Plus she is the main point of contact for families, keeping relatives informed of any developments and discussing the best way forward with them.
As home care providers, we liaise with relatives and other healthcare professionals to make sure our clients are receiving the care they need at all times. And we are expert at knowing who to call and when.
